And I Want To Show You Great and Marvelous Things

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge” (Psalm 19:1-2). I am easily captivated by a dazzling sunrise or a breathtakingly colorful sunset. A walk on a starry night finds me pondering the number of stars many of which are several light years from Earth. So much beauty is found in the day and night skies. I am also taken aback by the beauty of the sky when I am in one of my two favorite places.
I love being on a beach near the ocean as well as thousands of feet high on the summit of a mountain. Both of the places take my breath away. I am in awe of the marvelous things I can see from a mountaintop or walking along a beach. Hiking a “14er” in the Colorado Rockies on a clear day allows for a spectacular view! The grueling climb is rewarded with a 360-degree panoramic view of what seems like endless miles. This “bird’s eye view” is incredible, and I can’t help but think how much fun God had when He created the universe. I have similar thoughts as I spend time on the beach and look out over the vast water of the ocean. Being able to witness a sunrise and sunset over the ocean is something amazing! Praise God for the gift of sight and the ability to appreciate the beauty He has created.
Jeremiah 33:3 makes it clear that we have been called into a relationship with God. God gives us an invitation to call on Him - to come to Him in prayer. He promises to answer us and reveal Himself to us - to reveal great and hidden things we wouldn’t otherwise know. The question is am I taking advantage of this invitation from God? Do I start my day in prayer? Do I pray throughout the day? God says He will tell us great and hidden things when we call on Him. Father - help me be a person calling on Your name and seeking You. Calling out to You, and You answering me and revealing great and unsearchable things. We have a Father who wants to reveal things to us. He desires to show us great and marvelous things. Things greater - and more beautiful - than the view from a mountain summit or a beach alongside the ocean.
